Defined as the Livestock Mobility Support Project for Better Access to Resources and Markets (AFD Component), PAMOBARMA is a field action project funded by the French Development Agency (AFD). It aims to secure the mobility of herds and their access to resources and markets in West Africa and addresses issues of agropastoralism and therefore transhumance, economic development of territories, governance and support to communities.
Started in August 2018, PAMOBARMA will last 36 months and will be implemented in the central region and the plateaux region with particular emphasis on plateaus. The coordination of this project is ensured by the group ACTING FOR LIFE which implements the actions with the NGO Entreprises Territoires Développement (ETD) as a local partner structure.
At the beginning of the implementation of the activities, the launch workshop of October 30th was held in accordance with the planned work schedule. He had the speeches of the president of the special delegation of the Anié prefecture, that of ETD, that of the Secretary General of the prefecture of Anié and the presentation of the project and documentary film on transhumance. In turn, each of them congratulated the French Development Agency (AFD) which financed this capital project with a direct impact on the income of many populations thanks to the peaceful transhumance of regional integration.
The workshop saw the participation of all the key actors including the Prefects, the presidents of the special delegations of the prefectures and communes, the cantonal chiefs, the heads of the decentralized technical services of the State (STDE), the heads of the NGOs , farmers ‘organizations and breeders’ organizations and agropastoralists. Also present were the Fulani chiefs, some members of the old corridors follow-up committees, the cattle and boarding market managers, the presidents of the cantonal development committees (CCD), the butchers’ chiefs and the officials of the gendarmerie brigade and the national police. The PAMOBARMA launching workshop also brought together some secretaries of prefectures, the focal point of the National Committee for Transhumance (CNT), the Directorate of Livestock, national television (TVT), private radio and press and implementing partners. local implementation (GEVAPAF and FENAPFIBVTO).
A total of 93 participants attended this introductory session. The workshop allowed all of these actors to learn about the objectives, results and activities to be carried out within the framework of the PAMOBARMA AFD Component project, to appropriate the methodologies for implementing the said project and to recognize their projects. roles and responsibility in the device.
At the end of this working day, many lessons were learned with some points of attention to achieve the expected results.
