As part of the construction of four new water wells in the eastern prefecture-a single partner of Entreprises Territoires et Développement (ETD), it was carried out in October and November, at the establishment a water committee in four villages.
The construction of these boreholes was chosen by the prefecture development committee on the basis of the need for drinking water. The villages concerned are the villages of Onko in the Kamina canton, Lakahékou in the Gbadjahè canton, Gbaga in the Badin canton and Ayelo in the Elavagnon canton.
It was during the village general assemblies that the members of the water committees were elected. These general assemblies were led by the project management consultant and an ETD territory coordinator. Both were supported by the prefecture civil engineering technician and the ETD agricultural technician.
Each committee is composed of seven persons, namely: a president, a secretary, a treasurer, two men in charge of maintenance and two women in charge of hygiene. Committees that will be trained to manage a water well will be responsible for ensuring their sustainability.
In addition, it is during these general assemblies that the populations decide on the location of the boreholes to be built and the price of the water. It is also an opportunity to make them aware of the need to pay taxes that help the community to make achievements.
It should be remembered that, apart from Est-mono, ETD also operates in the commune of Notsé and in the prefectures of Haho and Moyen-mono through the Support Program for the Strengthening of Local Participative Democracy for a Development Durable (PARDL-DD).
